Description

Suture, 2/0, 27", PDS™ Plus, Clear Monofilament with FS-1 needle is a synthetic absorbable surgical suture composed of polydioxanone and coated with triclosan (Irgacare® MP). This antibacterial coating has been shown to inhibit bacterial colonization on the suture surface, including pathogens commonly responsible for surgical site infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis.

The monofilament structure ensures smooth passage through tissue and minimizes tissue drag, which contributes to reduced trauma during insertion. Its clear, undyed appearance is preferred in surgeries where pigment-free material is needed. The suture maintains reliable tensile strength to support wound healing during critical phases, with 80% retention at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks.

The FS-1 needle is a 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle, designed to penetrate dense or fibrous tissue with minimal resistance. Its sharp configuration provides precise placement and secure wound closure in general, orthopedic, and gynecological surgical procedures.
