ETHILON™ Monofilament Suture is a nonabsorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of a long-chain aliphatic polymer, specifically nylon (polyamide). It is designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation where extended tensile strength retention is required. The monofilament structure provides low tissue drag and smooth passage through tissue with minimal trauma.

The suture is dyed black to enhance visibility during placement, aiding precision in delicate surgical fields. It elicits only a minimal acute inflammatory response, which contributes to its suitability in procedures where reduced tissue reaction is critical. Over time, it undergoes slow encapsulation by fibrous connective tissue without rapid degradation.

The product features a taper point BV130-4 needle, ideal for delicate tissue handling and smooth penetration without cutting. The needle's design supports accurate placement in microsurgical and ophthalmic applications where fine control is essential. The short 5-inch suture length further supports use in confined or precision-demanding anatomical sites.
