Description

The Taper Point PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, 4-0, 27", with SH-1 needle, is a sterile, monofilament suture composed of polydioxanone. It is violet in color for enhanced visibility during surgery and is designed for absorbable soft tissue approximation. The suture is engineered to provide prolonged wound support with minimal tissue reactivity and is particularly suited for internal surgical applications requiring extended strength retention.

This suture features a taper point needle with a 1/2 circle curvature and a 22 mm length, ensuring smooth penetration through tissue while minimizing trauma. The suture material maintains approximately 80% tensile strength at two weeks, 70% at four weeks, and 60% at six weeks post-implantation.

PDS II sutures are fully absorbed between 183 to 238 days through hydrolysis, leaving minimal tissue residue. The monofilament structure reduces the risk of bacterial colonization and minimizes tissue drag compared to braided sutures. Its absorption profile and strength make it suitable for high-tension tissue closures.
