MONOCRYL™ Monofilament Suture is an absorbable surgical thread composed of poliglecaprone 25, a synthetic copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. It is supplied sterile and is designed for temporary tissue support during wound healing. The monofilament structure allows for minimal tissue drag, reduced inflammation, and uniform diameter, making it suitable for delicate tissue approximation.

This suture exhibits minimal tissue reaction, offering a cleaner healing profile compared to traditional absorbable sutures like chromic gut. Its non-fraying design and smooth passage through tissue help minimize trauma during insertion and knotting. The absence of coating and its undyed formulation further reduce foreign body response in sensitive tissue applications.

Common indications include soft tissue approximation in gynecologic, urologic, gastrointestinal, and subcuticular skin closures. It is frequently used in young, healthy patients and animals, especially in locations where quick healing is expected. The conventional cutting needle is suited for skin and other dense tissues requiring penetration efficiency.
