Description

The Chromic Gut Suture, Size 4-0, 18", G-2 Needle, is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture made from purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the serosal layer of beef or the submucosal fibrous layer of sheep intestines. It is treated with chromic salts to delay absorption and prolong tensile strength retention.

This suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation. The chromic treatment enhances resistance to enzymatic degradation, providing a moderate absorption profile. It is commonly used in internal tissues such as oral mucosa, gynecologic procedures, and subcutaneous closures where synthetic absorbable sutures may not be preferred.
