Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Taper Point, Size 2/0, 27", CT-2 Needle is a sterile surgical suture manufactured from purified connective tissue, primarily collagen derived from bovine or ovine intestinal serosa. This natural absorbable material is treated with chromic salt solutions to extend its tensile strength and reduce the rate of absorption. 

The suture is equipped with a CT-2 needle, which is a 1/2 circle taper point needle, facilitating smooth tissue penetration with minimal trauma. Taper point needles are especially suitable for soft, delicate tissues like subcutaneous layers and gastrointestinal tissue, providing clean passage without cutting through tissue fibers.

This suture undergoes a gradual enzymatic absorption process, which is influenced by tissue conditions and location of implantation. Typically, chromic gut retains tensile strength for approximately 10 to 14 days and is fully absorbed within 90 days. This makes it appropriate for procedures requiring temporary support during the early phases of healing.
