Description

Monocryl Plus Suture, P-3, Violet, Size 5-0, 18" is a sterile, synthetic absorbable monofilament suture incorporating triclosan (Irgacare MP) for antibacterial protection. It is constructed from poliglecaprone 25, a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone, offering controlled degradation and reliable tensile strength during the critical wound healing phase. The violet coloration provides enhanced visibility during surgical procedures.

The suture retains 50–60% of its tensile strength after the first week and drops to approximately 20–30% by the end of the second week. Complete hydrolytic absorption occurs within 91 to 119 days. This absorption profile supports the healing of soft tissues while minimizing long-term foreign body presence, reducing the risk of suture-related complications.

Its monofilament structure contributes to minimal tissue drag and low tissue reactivity. The smooth surface ensures uniform passage through tissues, improving handling and reducing trauma during insertion. The pliability of the material aids in precise placement and efficient closure in delicate procedures.
