Description

Ethibond Excel suture is a nonabsorbable surgical suture composed of braided polyester fibers. The material consists of high molecular weight, long-chain linear polyesters, providing superior strength and durability. Its braided construction offers excellent handling characteristics, making it a preferred choice in various surgical applications where long-term tissue support is required.

The suture features a specialized highly adherent coating, which is a relatively nonreactive, nonabsorbable compound. This coating functions as a lubricant, reducing tissue drag and facilitating smooth passage through tissues. It mechanically enhances the suture’s physical properties by improving knot security and handling compared to uncoated braided sutures. 

Ethibond Excel sutures maintain tensile strength over time, making them suitable for procedures requiring prolonged wound support. Their braided nature allows for excellent knot tying, providing secure closure in delicate or high-tension areas. The suture is available in white color, which enhances visibility during surgical procedures and assists with precise placement.

A nonabsorbable, braided, sterile, surgical suture composed of Poly (ethylene, terephthalate). It is prepared from fibers of high molecular weight, long-chain, linear polyesters having recurrent aromatic rings as an integral component. It is uniformly coated with polybutilate or poly {oxy-1, 4 butanediyloxy (1, 6-dioxo-1, 6 hexanediyl)}. The highly adherent coating is a relatively nonreactive nonabsorbable compound which acts as a lubricant to mechanically improve the physical p roperties of the uncoated suture by improving handling qualities as contrasted to the braided, uncoated fiber. The suture is braided for optimal handling properties, and dyed green for enhanced visibility in the surgical field.
