Description
Monocryl Monofilament Suture, Undyed, 18", Size 4-0, is a sterile synthetic absorbable suture made from poliglecaprone 25. It is designed to provide reliable wound support with minimal tissue reaction. The monofilament construction reduces tissue drag and eliminates fraying, which contributes to smoother passage through tissues and less trauma during suturing.
The suture features a conventional cutting needle that facilitates precise tissue penetration and controlled handling. This needle type is well-suited for general soft tissue approximation where ease of passage and minimal tissue damage are critical. The undyed suture color allows for reduced visibility in cosmetic or delicate procedures, making it preferable for subcuticular closures.
Monocryl maintains 60-70% of its tensile strength at one week post-implantation, providing sufficient wound support during the early healing phase. The suture undergoes complete hydrolytic absorption within 91 to 119 days, reducing the presence of foreign material and minimizing long-term tissue irritation.
