Description

The Coated Vicryl Absorbable Suture, Undyed Braided, OS-4 Needle, Size 2/0, 27" is a synthetic, absorbable surgical suture made from a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to facilitate smooth passage through tissue and reduce drag. The undyed braided design ensures minimal tissue reactivity while maintaining effective handling characteristics. 

This suture is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It is particularly suitable for procedures involving the reproductive tract, ophthalmic surgeries, orthopedic applications (as a second-line option), and general tissue or muscle closure. However, it is not indicated for use in cardiovascular or neurological procedures. 

The suture maintains approximately 50% of its tensile strength for up to three weeks post-implantation, ensuring adequate support during initial tissue healing. Progressive loss of strength occurs thereafter as the suture undergoes hydrolytic degradation within the body. The gradual degradation process aligns with typical tissue healing timelines in non-critical anatomical areas.
