Coated Vicryl Absorbable Suture is a violet braided suture designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is widely utilized in various surgical procedures, including ophthalmic operations, but is contraindicated for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues. The suture material consists of polyglactin 910, a synthetic absorbable polymer that ensures effective wound support during the critical healing period.

The suture features a coated surface that enhances ease of handling, knot tying, and knot security, even on the first throw. This characteristic reduces surgical time and improves efficiency. Its braided construction provides excellent tensile strength and flexibility, allowing precise tissue approximation with minimal trauma. 

Common applications include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract surgeries, ophthalmic procedures, and orthopedic surgeries as a secondary choice. The suture maintains approximately 50% of its tensile strength at three weeks post-implantation, supporting wound healing during this essential phase.
