Description

Carbocaine SDV 2% (20 mg/mL, 20 mL) is a sterile solution containing mepivacaine hydrochloride, a local anesthetic of the amide type. It is widely used in clinical settings for producing local or regional anesthesia in dental and surgical procedures. Mepivacaine works by blocking sodium ion channels in nerve membranes, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse transmission and providing temporary loss of sensation in the targeted area.

This product is supplied in a single-dose vial (SDV) to ensure sterility and reduce the risk of contamination during use. Each mL of solution contains 20 mg of mepivacaine hydrochloride and is free from preservatives, making it suitable for a single-use application. The 20 mL vial allows for flexibility in dosing depending on the extent of the anesthesia required.

Carbocaine SDV 2% is generally well-tolerated but may cause side effects such as dizziness, nausea, or localized irritation at the injection site.
