VISTEC® X-Ray Detectable Sponge is a nonsterile 16-ply gauze sponge designed for wound care, surgical support, and general medical procedures requiring high absorbency and reliable detection. Manufactured from USP Type VII gauze, the sponge measures 4 × 4 inches and provides a soft yet durable structure suitable for cleansing wounds, absorbing fluids, and protecting injured tissue. 

The sponge incorporates a unique dual-colored X-ray detectable element consisting of a blue radiopaque strand combined with a white strand that remains visible even when the sponge becomes saturated with blood. This design improves identification during procedures and supports patient safety by facilitating radiographic detection if sponge retention is suspected. 

A precise double vacuum delinting process significantly reduces loose fibers, resulting in low-lint performance that helps minimize the introduction of particulate material into the wound site. The 16-ply construction provides enhanced absorbency and cushioning while maintaining structural integrity during use. The square 4-inch design offers consistent coverage for wound cleansing, dressing preparation, and fluid management in a variety of healthcare environments.
