PDS™ Antibacterial Violet Monofilament (Polydioxanone) Absorbable Surgical Suture, MBO-1, 36", CTX is a monofilament, absorbable surgical suture made from polydioxanone and coated with triclosan (Irgacare® MP). The antibacterial agent provides protection against colonization of the suture by bacteria commonly associated with surgical site infections.

This suture maintains approximately 80% of its original tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks following implantation. The polymer is absorbed via hydrolysis with a complete mass loss between 183 and 238 days. Its extended strength retention makes it suitable for slow-healing tissues or procedures requiring long-term wound support.

The monofilament structure offers smooth passage through tissue and reduces tissue drag and trauma. Its minimal memory and pliability improve handling and knot security. The low tissue reactivity profile of polydioxanone further contributes to favorable healing outcomes with reduced inflammatory response.
