MONOCRYL™ Monofilament Suture, Violet, CT Needle, 27", Size 0-0, is a sterile, synthetic absorbable suture made from a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. It is designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation in procedures requiring temporary wound support. The suture features a smooth monofilament construction that reduces tissue drag and eliminates fraying.

Compared to chromic gut sutures, MONOCRYL™ induces significantly less tissue reaction and provides superior handling. Its monofilament design ensures clean passage through tissue and consistent knot security. The violet color enhances visibility during placement, aiding in precision during deep tissue and subcuticular closures.

The suture retains 30–40% of its initial tensile strength after the first week, with 60–70% strength loss within that time frame. Complete mass absorption occurs through hydrolysis within 91 to 119 days, making it suitable for tissues that heal rapidly and do not require prolonged tensile support.
