Description

Suture, VICRYL™ Coated Braided Undyed, 4-0, 18", PC-1 is a synthetic absorbable suture made from a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The braided multifilament structure provides excellent pliability and handling characteristics, while the coating of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate ensures smoother tissue passage and enhanced knot security.

The suture is equipped with a PC-1 needle, a 3/8 circle precision cutting needle constructed from stainless steel. It is designed to penetrate dense or fibrous tissue with minimal resistance, commonly used in soft tissue approximation where delicate and accurate needle control is necessary.

VICRYL™ sutures retain about 75% of their initial tensile strength at two weeks and approximately 50% at three weeks post-implantation. Complete mass absorption takes place within 56 to 70 days via hydrolytic degradation. This predictable absorption timeline provides adequate wound support during the critical healing phase without leaving residual material.
