Description
The Taper Point PDS II Absorbable Suture is designed for use in soft tissue approximation and ligation where extended wound support is required. Constructed from polydioxanone, this monofilament suture exhibits smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and reducing tissue reactivity. Its violet color enhances visibility during placement and removal.
The suture is equipped with a 1/2 circle, 36 mm taper point needle (CT-1), which facilitates precise and controlled penetration through delicate tissues. The taper point design ensures minimal tissue drag and decreases the risk of damage, making it suitable for cardiovascular, abdominal, and pediatric surgeries.
Strength retention is a key feature of this suture, maintaining approximately 80% of tensile strength at two weeks, 70% at four weeks, and 60% at six weeks. This provides reliable wound support during the critical phases of healing. Complete absorption of the suture material occurs within 183 to 238 days, allowing the body to safely break down and eliminate the suture.
