Description

The PDS™ II Monofilament Suture, Size 0, 27", with CP-1 needle, is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of polydioxanone. This monofilament suture is engineered for extended wound support, providing consistent strength and minimal tissue reaction. It is especially suited for soft tissue approximation in procedures where prolonged tensile support is essential for healing.

The CP-1 needle is a 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle designed for efficient penetration through tougher tissues such as skin or fascia. Its sharpened cutting edge on the outer curve allows clean entry with reduced trauma, making it ideal for general surgical closures requiring precision and durability.

This suture retains approximately 80% of its tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks post-implantation. Such a degradation profile aligns well with the needs of slow-healing tissues, providing necessary support over an extended period. Complete absorption by hydrolysis occurs between 183 and 238 days.
